੧੪ : ਸੱਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੱਚਾ ਗੁਰੂ

14 : sa'ch sa'chaa si'kh sa'chaa guroo

Truth, the true Sikh, the true Guru,

ਲੂਣੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਖਾਇਕੈ ਰਣ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਲੜਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੁ ਜਾਪੈ।

loon saahib dhaa khaikai ran a(n)dhar laR marai su jaapai|

True is he who is true to the salt of his master and dies fighting for him in the battelfield.

ਸਿਰ ਵਢੈ ਹਥੀਆਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਵਰੀਆਮਾ ਵਰੀਆਮੁ ਸਿਞਾਪੈ।

sir vaddai hatheeaar kar vareeaamaa vareeaam sin(j)aapai|

One who beheads the enemy with his weapon is known as brave among the warriors.

ਤਿਸੁ ਪਿਛੈ ਜੋ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਥਪਿ ਥੇਈ ਦੇ ਵਰੈ ਸਰਾਪੈ।

tis pichhai jo isataree thap theiee dhe varai saraapai|

His bereaved woman is established as sati capable of granting boons and curses.

ਪੋਤੈ ਪੁਤ ਵਡੀਰੀਅਨਿ ਪਰਵਾਰੈ ਸਾਧਾਰੁ ਪਰਾਪੈ।

potai put vaddeereean paravaarai saadhaar paraapai|

Sons and grandsons are praised and the whole family becomes exalted.

ਵਖਤੈ ਉਪਰਿ ਲੜਿ ਮਰੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਲਾਪੈ।

vakhatai upar laR marai a(n)mirat velai sabadh alaapai|

One who dies fighting in the hour of peril and recites the Word in the ambrosial hour is known as the true warrior.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਾਇਕੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਰੈ ਆਪੁ ਆਪੈ।

saadhasa(n)gat vich jaikai haumai maar marai aap aapai|

Going to the holy congregation and effacing his desires, he wipes out his ego.

ਲੜਿ ਮਰਣਾ ਤੈ ਸਤੀ ਹੋਣੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੰਥੁ ਪੂਰਣ ਪਰਤਾਪੈ।

laR maranaa tai satee hon gurmukh pa(n)th pooran parataapai|

Dying while fighting in battle and maintaining of the controle over the senses is the grand path of the gurmukhs.

ਸਚਿ ਸਿਦਕ ਸਚ ਪੀਰੁ ਪਛਾਪੈ ॥੧੪॥

sach sidhak sach peer pachhaapai ||14||

In whom you repose your full faith is known as the true Guru.
