The listener’s agreement — short, fair, and in plain English.
Kirtan Fi is a free record label, service and home for recorded Gurbani Kirtan in all genres and Katha — a trading brand of Sikh Music Records Ltd (SMR), registered in England & Wales. These terms cover use of kirtanfi.com as a listener: browsing the catalog, creating a listener account, streaming, and saving to your Library. Using the site means you accept them.
Artists, Parivaars and labels working with SMR are governed by their own agreements — not this page.
Sign-in is passwordless: a one-time code is emailed to the address you give. So:
Signed-in listeners stream in studio-quality lossless — the recordings as they were made. That streaming is for personal, non-commercial listening, and it DOES NOT INCLUDE:
Sewa and community use is close to the platform’s heart and is usually workable — the answer starts with a conversation.
Every recording here is protected by copyright and related rights — held by SMR, by the artists, and in many cases by the Parivaars who have entrusted a lifetime’s recordings to this platform. Streaming a track grants you a listen — not a licence, not ownership, not a right to reuse.
Treating that trust with care is the whole point of the platform. Please honour it.
Saving releases and tracks builds your personal Library — a convenience for your own listening. It may grow, change shape, or gain features over time; what you have saved stays yours to see while your account is open.
Keep it fair: no probing or attacking the infrastructure, no automated account creation, no using the contact form to spam. The service is rate-limited and bot-protected precisely so it stays fast for everyone.
All rights in the recordings, artwork and text on this service are reserved. They are not licensed for text-and-data-mining, or for training, fine-tuning or evaluating artificial-intelligence or machine-learning systems — by any means, at any scale.
Kirtan Fi is provided as it stands. SMR works hard to keep it up, fast and correct — but does not promise uninterrupted availability, and features may change or be withdrawn as the platform evolves. Where notice of a significant change can be given, it will be.
You can delete your account at any time from your account page — no questions, no retention tricks. SMR may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and where practical will say why.
To the fullest extent the law allows, SMR is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of a free listening service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
SMR may update these terms as the platform grows; the effective date above always shows the current version, and continued use after a change means acceptance. These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction.
